D5.7 - Impact of CCUS Scenarios on the EU ETS

This deliverable aims at assessing CCUS impact on the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) by evaluating the quantity of allowances not required with CCUS scenarios developed under the project on the regional and European scales. The analysis is performed by evaluating the quantities of CO2 avoided through CCUS implementation throughout the scenarios with quantities of EU ETS allowances theoretically issued.

D5.6 Issues to facilitate the deployment of CCUS

This deliverable summarizes the activities in previous tasks of work package 5 and presents the key issues and the possibly way forward for CCUS deployment in the 8 regions. In the analysis carried out the deployment issues were divided into three large groups: techno‐economic, social and policies and government factors.

D5.5 - Identification of sustainable cooperation schemes in regional CCS systems Portugal case study: Break‐even CO2 prices for CCS adoption

This report examines the conditions enabling the deployment of large‐scale pipeline and storage infrastructure needed for the capture of CO2 in Portugal by 2050. It describes a modelling approach for determining the least‐cost infrastructure for connecting a geographically disaggregated set of emitting and storage clusters, as well as the CO2 price thresholds required to ensure that the agents considered make the necessary investment decisions and share a common infrastructure.

D5.4 - Transnational scenarios report

The objective of the Task 5.3 “Economic evaluation of national and transnational scenarios” is to propose transnational scenarios between the eight regions studied in the project. For this, we base our study on the eight regional analyses presented in the report “Deliverable D5.3: Economic Evaluation of CCUS Scenarios in Eight Southern European Regions” (Coussy et al., 2022), and the data available from the database resulting from WP2 (Mesquita & Carneiro, 2020). Each regional study has provided a main scenario that reflects a good match between the volumes that can be captured in the industries and the regional storages, while taking care to optimize the transport network.

D5.3 - Economic Evaluation of CCUS Scenarios in Eight Southern and Eastern European Regions

Each CCUS deployment scenario presented in this report was carried out by dedicated regional teams and was previously presented, explained, and discussed in eight regional stakeholder committees organized as part of the project.

D5.2 Description of CCUS business cases in eight southern & eastern European regions

The objective of deliverable D5.2 is to describe the CCUS scenarios produced in the eight STRATEGY CCUS regions located in the Ebro basin in Spain, Lusitanian basin in Portugal, Rhône valley and Paris basin in France, Northern Croatia, Galati area in Romania, West Macedonian area in Greece and Upper Silesia in Poland.

D4.5 - Cost‐effectiveness of storage sites and comparison of promising regions

There are two main objectives of this deliverable D4.5. The first one is to provide assessment of storage bankability, based on the outcome from WP2 (Mapping technical aspects), and to estimate the cost repartition along storage life cycle: from exploration, to operation, till monitoring. The second one is to focus on the components of business models, i.g. revenue model (policy support mechanism), ownership structures, to discuss the suitable business model for the studied regions.

D4.4 - MRIO analysis of CCS deployment of three selected promising regions

The main goal of D4.4 is to contemplate the socioeconomic benefits of CCS deployment in three selected promising regions: Ebro Basin in Spain, Lusitanian Basin in Portugal and Rhône Valley in France. Departing from the scenarios presented in WP5, in this document we estimate the value added and employment creation that would arise if the investments proposed do take place towards 2050.

D4.3 Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in three selected promising regions describing processes involved in CCUS, scaled to a common unit

This deliverable presents the outcomes of the LCA of the CCUS scenarios elaborated in the three most promising regions – namely the Rhône Valley (France), the Ebro basin (Spain) and the Lusitanian basin (Portugal) – selected at an earlier stage of the project.

D4.1 Data template to build model for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Techno-Economic Assessment (TEA)

This report presents the needed data to build models for Life Cycle Assessment and Techno Economic Assessment. The following main categories of processes are considered: CO2 emissions sources, CO2 transport, CO2 capture technologies, CO2 use and CO2 storage. For each studied promising region (France - Rhone valley-, Spain –Ebro basin- and Portugal - Lusitanian basin -), a list of potential technologies is proposed for the different listed categories.
